Q: I found a product from Karndean Flooring, which seems durable, and almost realistic to hardwood flooring. It is very thin, flexible and seems to have a rubber backing on it.
I was looking to do a dance floor area in a tavern. I have never heard you mention this product. Is it something you do not carry? Would you recommend it for what I am trying to do? Or do you carry it, and I just can’t find it?
Thank you. Great informative blog, btw.

A: Karndean is a UK based company, so its distribution in the US is not quite as widespread as some of its competitors. I have yet to directly speak about Karndean for two reasons: 1) I have not had a question on it yet 2) since we don’t carry it I don’t have as much hands on experience with Karndean’s products.
Overall let’s keep in mind that we are talking about vinyl flooring. Karndean makes a vinyl floor product which does have some amazing patterns and a very good looking wood line. Vinyl flooring in general is extremely resilient and is very good for taking a lot of foot traffic, such as a dance floor.
As far as some similar products you could also look into Konecto (a bit easier to install, great wood lines and very durable). Generally speaking vinyl flooring is going to be able to stand up to the amount of abuse you’re expecting.
